Where lucky numbers actually come from

Where "lucky numbers" come from

Almost every number published as a tip comes from one of three places: statistics on frequently drawn numbers, a reading from a dream or an event, or a birth date. All three are ways of choosing a number. None is a way of knowing the result.

One — statistics

Counted from real past draws: which numbers have appeared often, which have been absent longest. Verifiable fact, but a record of the past, not a statement about the future. See our statistics pages.

Two — dreams

Numbers read from dream symbols by Thai tradition. Culturally meaningful, and presented as such. See our dream pages.

Three — birth dates

Numbers derived from a date of birth by Thai numerology — personal to each individual. See the Birthday Numbers page.

The part worth being honest about

None of the three improves your chance of winning by any amount. Draws are random and each is independent of the last. A site promising numbers that are "certain" is stating something nobody can know.

So why do people look for numbers?

Because holding a number that means something to you makes the wait more enjoyable. There is nothing wrong with that — provided you spend only what you can afford to lose, and understand the odds have not moved.
