The lottery is a game of chance. The odds are fixed in advance and identical every draw. No formula, system or set of numbers improves them, and previous results have no bearing on the next draw.

Only what you can afford to lose

Treat the cost of a ticket as entertainment, not as an investment or a way to make money. Decide a limit beforehand, and never use money needed for living.

Warning signs

• Buying more and more in the hope of winning back what was lost
• Using money meant for food, rent, or debts
• Hiding how much is being spent from people close to you
• Borrowing to buy, or thinking about it enough to affect work or sleep
